Chris Brown: All Is Fair?

Today R&B singer Chris Brown was sentenced to 5 years probation and 6 months community labor for the beating of Rihanna. He was also ordered to stay 100 feet away from Rihanna for the next five years unless a musical event is involve. Chris was told by judge Schnegg that he could be sent to prison if he violated any terms of his sentence, which includes physical labor vs community service, such as speaking to teens. Chris will be serving his sentence in Virginia where he reside.

In June Chris Brown pleaded guilty to the charges and since the incident he has made several statements apologizing to the public and to Rihanna. Rihanna and her attorney has said they didn’t think the strict rulings were necessary and basically all they want is for Rihanna not be annoyed, harassed or to molest the 21 year old pop singer.

Since the incident Chris Brown’s career has taken a serious nose dive. Radio stations refuse to play his music he has been dropped by sponsors. At the same time we are still hearing Rihanna’s music being played on the airwaves as well as seeing her commercials. So I guess to an extent it’s safe to say her career goes on.

In most states if a woman strike a man she will be arrested just as the man will be if he strikes her. While I definitely do not support any man that hit a woman. I do support fairness. And I do not believe a woman should put her hands on a man if she expects not to be hit in return. We hear all the time there is no excuse for a man to ever put his hand on a woman. I agree with this, but as a woman I can say there is no excuse for a woman to put her hands on a man either. I have a son I raise him to never put his hands on a woman. This mean the woman that will be in his life should never put her hands on him either. It would be hard for me to see my son’s face scratched or bruised. And he still walked away because of what I told him years ago. A hit from anyone can startle you and some people react different ways depending on how hard that lick was. It is insane for anyone to believe that the strike of a woman does not hurt. I have seen some women set a man on his behind. There are good men and women out here that have been arrested because while trying to walk away the other will brutally attack them and they had no other choice but to defend themselves. And most of the time the man will get the worst end of the stick. Some women will attack a man because she knows the law is on her side. If you pinch a man hard enough it will hurt him just like it will hurt a woman. He has feelings and he’s only human and being only human you never know what a person’s breaking point is. So don’t dish anymore than you can take. With that being said EVERYBODY need to keep their feet on the ground and their hands to themselves.

Here we have a young man (Chris Brown) that everyone once loved. And now so many people are against him it’s crazy. I am not afraid to say I am a fan of Chris Brown. I believe as a young man he snapped too fast and didn’t take time to think. It is also said that Rihanna has been slapping him. They both should have kept their hands to themselves and walk away forever rather than continue in an abusive relationship. This is not love.

We hear a lot of rumors about what made Chris snapped. I was not there so I care not to judge the situation. Although I am proud to hear him say that he is seeking help for himself. Maybe they both need to seek help.

Chris hurry and get yourself together so you can continue to bring us good music. You still have fans and a lot of people still love you.

To all the abusers: Stop the violence please! It destroy lives.

Maxwell is back!

Maxwell has been called the Ambassador of Soul. A title so fitting. The tranquility his music brings, the sexy way he deliver every line will make you feel like you can relate. You'll find yourself hanging on to every word he says. To watch him on stage and sit in awe, as his performance commands attention. There is something so mystical about him, all you want to do is relax and be caught up in the magic of Maxwell.

Maxwell expresses his love for music very well on stage, but off stage a very down to earth character, he's not one to get caught up in the hype of stardom. When asked what he's been doing the past seven years of his disappearance. He simply
will say "Just being a normal person, living day to day. I'm not one of these people that feel like Oh my God I've got to be famous the rest of my life or my life means nothing. I've actually found a lot of meaning in my life without any of that". You can actually hear the day to day life experiences in his new release BlackSummer'sNight, which is already at No 1 on the Billboard 200. It's obvious a lot of thought, heart and soul went into this cd. And we all know some of the best songs really do come from life's experiences. Kudos to Maxwell, keep doin' your thing.

5 Facts:

1.Maxwell's birthdate is May 23,1973.

2.He is of Puerto Rican and West Indies descent.

3.Maxwell is his middle name. He chooses not to reveal his real name to
protect the privacy of his family.

4.After losing his father to a plane crash at the age of three, he began singing in a Baptist Church. He began taking his music serious whena friend gave him an inexpensive Casio keyboard at the age of 17.

5.After completing his first album Urban Hang Suite. Columbia Records
had doubts and shelved the album for 2 years. It was release in 1996.

MJ: The Icon Indefinite

The Featured Artist for this week is none other than Michael Jackson. What can you say about MJ that hasn't already been said. He is truly and will always be the "Worlds Greatest Entertainer". Nuff said. This is my tribute and my favorite MJ picks. "Mike forever you will reign".

Drake:You The Best.

It's been a while since we've seen an artist such as Drake come along. The Toronto, Canada native played Jimmy Brooks, a basketball star that became physically disabled after being shot by a classmate on Degrassi: The Next Generation.

When I first heard Drakes' single "Best I Ever Had" I initially thought it could be a collaboration of Ne-Yo and Kanye West which I definitely consider two of the greatest songwriters of our time. The more I listened to this song the more I knew I never experience the listening pleasure of this artist before. Nevertheless I kept rockin' and reelin' and found myself singing "you the, you the best, best I ever had". I was so impressed by his flow and his vocals, I couldn't wait until I got home. I began to research immediately.

Born October 24, 1986 Aubrey "Drake" Graham is the son of drummer Dennis Graham on numerous occasions played for Jerry Lee Lewis and the nephew of Larry Graham of the group Graham Central Station, known for his hit "One In A Million". At the age of five his parents divorced. Drake was raised by his mother in the wealthy Forest Hill neighborhood. He attended Forest Hill Public School and Forest Hill Collegiate Institute where he began acting. He spent his summers in Memphis Tennessee.

In 2009 the producers decide to cut the entire staff of Degrassi for a new group of actors. A songwriter since the age of seven, this gave Drake the opportunity to pursue the R&B side of him that he loves. In 2007 he released "Comeback Season". It was from here on he gained his popularity when he did his first song with Lil Wayne, "Man Of The Year". In 2008 he release "Heartbreak Drake" and 2009 "So Far Gone" once again included Drake's mentor Lil Wayne and members of Young Money. In June 2009 it was revealed that an unauthorized album entitled "The Girls Love Drake" was up for sale on iTunes. It is said a lawsuit is planned.

On Billboard Hot 100 chart "Best I Ever Had" and "Every Girl" by Young Money Entertainment entered the top ten at three and ten. Drake is the second artist to have his first two top ten hits in the same week. The first was Nelly Furtado with "I'm Like A Bird" the same week with Missy Elliott's "Get Ur Freak On" the remix with Furtado.

On June 29, 2009 Drake signed a record deal with Cash Money/Universal/Motown. Which is said to be one of the biggest bidding wars. He plans to release his official debut album "Thank Me Later" in late 2009. I'll be waiting.

"I really just want to draw the fans into to me as a person so that we can communicate better in the future."

Jay-Z

Shawn Corey Carter was born December 4, 1970. Better known as Jay-Z. Hip Hop mogul and businessman.

Originally Jay-Z is from Marcy Houses projects in Bedford-Stuyvesant, of Brooklyn New York. Abandoned by his father. Jay-Z became a product of a single parent home.He attended Eli Whitney High School in Brooklyn with rapper AZ until the school closed down. Afterwards he attended George Westinghouse Information Technology High School, where he became friends with Nortorious B.I.G. and Busta Rhymes at Trenton Central High School. Although in the 6th grade he was testing on a 12th grade level, he did not graduate from high school, he dropped out to deal drugs.Which he attest to in his music. Gloria Carter (mother) reminisce on the nights young Jay-Z would wake his siblings to the sound of him creating drum beats on the kitchen table. His mother soon bought a boom box for his birthday, which peaked his interest in music. He began freestyling, writing rhymes and entering rap battles. It is stated that "Bone Thugs-N-Harmony" member "Bizzy Bone" employer had taken him to New York to battle Jay
which was reported to be a victorious battle for Jay-Z.

People knew him as "Jazzy" which quickly turned into the stage name "Jay-Z" another reason to pay homage to his music mentor "Jaz-O" also to the J/Z subway lines that would stop at Marcy Avenue in Brooklyn.

After the days of being CEO of Def Jam, Jay-Z decided it was time start his own independent label, but no record company was willing to offer him a contract. So with two of his partners, he formed Roc-A-Fella Records and in 1996 released "Reasonable Doubt" which put him on the map as one of the major rappers of our time. Jay decided it was time to leave the drug dealing behind and build his empire, but in 1999 he was arrested for stabbing a record executive in a New York club. And in 2001 he was charged with possession of a loaded handgun. He pleaded guilty and was sentenced to three years' probation. Also with the reputation of a realist and a very smart man,Jay realized how fast everything he had worked hard for, could be over. With that he layed the thug image down and the birth of Jay-Z the businessman was born.

Today Jay-Z wears many titles, Rapper,Songwriter, Executive Producer,Fashion Designer. He co-owns the "40/40 club and the New Jersey Nets, as well as husband to the beautiful Beyonce. Having sold over 26 million units in the United States and receiving several Grammy Awards. He is definitely a artist worth featuring.

"With education comes refinement. I'm hungry for knowledge. The whole thing is to learn everyday, to get brighter and brighter. That's what you should be doing your whole time on this planet. Then you feel like, my life is worth everything, and yours is too."
